Man Wins $4 Million Lottery Jackpot and Donates to Animal Shelter

What would you do if you won the lottery? Many of us dream of splurging on a new house or car.

However, when Paul Riley, a Massachusetts man with a passion for animals, struck it rich with a scratch-off ticket, his first thought was to give back to pets in need.

Paul, from Peabody, Massachusetts, bought a “100X Cash” instant ticket from the Massachusetts State Lottery at a local store. When he scratched it, he was astonished to find he had won the $4 million grand prize, according to a news release.

An ardent animal lover, Paul arrived to claim his prize accompanied by his dog, Raven.

When asked about his plans for the money, Paul revealed his generous spirit by announcing that he would donate a portion of his winnings to the Animal Rescue League.

It’s heartwarming to see someone use their newfound wealth to help animals in need. Naturally, Paul also intends to treat himself and his family; he mentioned he would buy his wife a new car.

According to the news release, Paul opted for a lump sum payment of $2,600,000 before taxes. Additionally, Summit Variety, the store where he purchased the winning ticket, will receive a $40,000 bonus.
