Recently the Academy Awards were held to honor the best of the film industry and even tributes were paid to those who left us recently. There is a special segment called “in memoriam” at the Oscars to pay tribute to the actors, directors, producers, and others who have died in the past year.
Many of the late actors also got a special tribute like the late great Betty White who was paid honor by Jamie Lee Curtis and a rescued puppy. Betty White died last year on December 31 at the age of 99, which was just weeks before her 100th birthday. The veteran was best known for her roles on shows like The Mary Tyler Moore Show and The Golden Girls.
Apart from her filmy career, she was a devoted advocate for animals and she supported various animal causes for decades. She wanted herself to be remembered for her animal work. Keeping that in mind, the Oscars paid tribute to the late actor. She was among the few who got a special moment during the in memoriam segment along with Sidney Poitier and Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitman.
Betty White was given a tribute by the legendary Halloween Star Jamie Lee Curtis along with a rescue dog named Mac-n-Cheese. While paying tribute, Curtis said that she was not only a Golden Girl, she was a legend who brightened every room she walked in and brought a smile to the faces of all who watched her on the screen.
Curtis thanked Betty by calling her a friend. Curtis further added that she was a woman who cared for everyone including the animals. The actress encouraged people to consider adopting a rescue dog who wanted to honor Betty in a true sense.
She said that the greatest gift one could give Betty White was to open their heart and their home and adopt a rescue dog just like Mac-N-Cheese from Paw Works. The dog Mac-N-Cheese is currently available for adoption. After her death,
her fans began the ‘Betty White Challenge’ where people were asked to donate five dollars to their favorite animal rescue. There was a huge increase in donations on White’s 100th birthday. What a great tribute! We are grateful to Jamie Lee Curtis for paying such a sweet tribute to Late Betty White.
