Dog with Crooked Smile Looking for a New Forever Home After Being Returned to Shelter

All animals are beautiful. Beauty is not skin deep. Dogs with disabilities are beautiful inside and out. But sometimes dogs with unconventional looks are neglected by the people and the shelters find it difficult to find a forever home for them.

Here is the story of Zeke who is having a crooked mouth but it never stops smiling. The dog is a Shepherd/Boxer mix and his crooked smile is a result of a birth defect. But it does not bother him.

The dog was handed to the nonprofit adoption center The NOAH Center, which is in Washington, last January. At that Zeke was seven months old. In spite of his strange look, the dog became the favorite of everyone at the shelter.

Katrina Wedin who is the center’s care coordinator said that she could not express how lovely the dog was. She further added that the dog was people-oriented and loved to have attention and interaction with people. He was loved by everyone at the shelter.

The center was looking for a home that could devote maximum time to the dog as the dog was young and it needed improvement despite his loving personality. Though shelter was able to find a home for Zeke yet it was not a happy ending for the dog. The dog was soon surrendered to the shelter.

The family had some personal issues and they were unable to look after the dog. The family experienced hardship and could no longer care for him.

This came as a setback but the shelter is determined that they would find Zeke another home. As he is a sweet and loving dog, it deserved affection.

Zeke did not have any interested adopters and the reason was his deformity. It is not like that the adopters did not like his appearance but the fact that it might require additional surgeries in the future.

So the center is looking for a home that is ready to love Zeke and provide him all the care he needed. We pray that this lovely dog who wanted to be loved and be loyal to a forever person should get a loving home.
